The Vibe:Thirty-six kilometres of wall, never taken.

Rana Kumbha built this fifteenth-century hill fort, and its perimeter wall runs thirty-six kilometres — second in length only to the Great Wall of China. Maharana Pratap was born here, and the fort was never taken by direct assault.
The wall follows the ridgeline in both directions until it disappears into haze. Wind is constant on the ramparts, and the interior is largely open ground and empty temples.

  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Hill Forts of Rajasthan
  • The perimeter wall runs roughly 36 km, often called the Great Wall of India
  • Birthplace of Maharana Pratap
  • Rated 4.6 across more than 43,000 Google reviews

  • 🧳 Solo: "A long day out, but the drive through the Aravallis is part of it."

Highlights

  • The perimeter wall along the ridge — wide enough to ride along, and the fort's real subject
  • Badal Mahal at the summit — the highest point, with views across the Aravallis
  • Over three hundred temples within the walls, mostly Jain
  • The evening light and sound show recounting the fort's sieges
  • The monsoon season, when the surrounding hills turn green — Hidden Gem
