The Vibe:An island that sheltered a rebel Mughal prince.

Three Maharanas completed this island palace across the seventeenth century. Prince Khurram, later the emperor Shah Jahan, sheltered here in 1623 after rebelling against his father, and the marble work is said to have influenced his later building.
Four stone elephants meet the boat at the landing, and the noise of the city stops at the water. Marble and yellow sandstone hold the heat well into the evening.

  • Sheltered Prince Khurram, the future Shah Jahan, during his revolt in 1623
  • Appeared in the James Bond film Octopussy
  • Rated 4.4 across more than 10,000 Google reviews
  • Now a heritage hotel, with day visitors admitted to the gardens and terraces
