The Vibe:A royal household that never stopped being one.

Founded with the city in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the complex still houses Jaipur's royal family in the upper floors of Chandra Mahal. The courtyards and museums around it are open to visitors.
Courtyard by courtyard, the noise of Gangori Bazaar drops away. Marble underfoot stays cool while painted gateways pull the eye upward.

  • Founded in 1727 alongside the city itself, and still a royal residence
  • Pritam Niwas Chowk's four seasonal doorways are among India's most photographed thresholds
  • The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum holds royal textiles, arms and manuscripts
  • Part of the walled city inscribed by UNESCO in 2019

Fit For

  • 🌍 Culture travellers: "Rajput and Mughal design set side by side across the courtyards."
  • 📸 Photographers: "The four painted doorways are the reason most people come."
  • 👵 Seniors: "Level courtyards, shade and seating throughout."
  • 💎 Luxury: "Upper-tier tickets open the royal apartments and private rooms."

Highlights

  • Pritam Niwas Chowk - four painted doorways for the four seasons
  • Chandra Mahal - the seven-storey residence, still occupied by the royal family
  • Mubarak Mahal and the textile galleries of the Man Singh II Museum
  • Diwan-i-Khas and its pair of enormous sterling silver urns
  • The armoury collection, often quieter than the main courtyards - Hidden Gem
