Bali's nature stacks three landscapes in one island: active volcanoes in the north and east, thousand-year-old rice terraces around Ubud, and seven-cascade waterfall jungles in the far north — all reachable within a single trip.
Bali's nature is clustered by zone: volcanic treks in the north-east (Mount Batur, Mount Ijen), rice terraces and small sanctuaries around Ubud in the central belt, and the island's best waterfalls in dense jungle in the far north (Sekumpul, Banyumala).
Distances are deceptive — Ubud to Sekumpul is a 2.5–3 hour drive each way.
In 1–3 days: you can comfortably do 1 volcano sunrise (pre-dawn 2 AM start), 1 Ubud nature circuit (terraces + forest sanctuary), and 1 waterfall day in the north.
Dry season (April–October) is best for trekking; wet season (November–March) brings heavy afternoon rain and slippery trails.
Start everything early — crowds and heat both peak after 10 AM.
