Udaipur : Jaisamand Lake (Dhebar Lake)
The Vibe:An inland sea, three hundred years old.
Maharana Jai Singh completed this reservoir in 1730 by damming the Gomti, creating what was for centuries the largest artificial lake in Asia. It still supplies Udaipur with drinking water.
The far shore is barely visible, and the water reads more like a sea than a lake. Islands break the surface, and the shoreline is largely undeveloped.
