HOW TO CHOOSE A HOTEL IN Phuket

HOW IMPORTANT IS
THE LOCATION?

Phuket is a 50km-long island, beach by beach. Crossing from Bang Tao to Kata can take an hour in season traffic.

Pick the area that matches your trip — onward access matters more than airport proximity.

  • Public transport
The Phuket Smart Bus runs HKT airport to Rawai along the west coast for 50–170 baht. Songthaew "Blue Buses" link Phuket Town to the beaches but stop running around 6:30pm. Neither is fast.
  • Walkability
Each beach is a single strip. Old Town is the only zone you can wander on foot. Beyond that, plan rides.
  • Taxis / ride-hail
Grab is the default; Bolt is cheaper but has fewer drivers. Tuk-tuks overcharge — skip them. A private driver for the day runs about 2,500–3,500 baht.
