HOW TO CHOOSE A HOTEL IN London

London is large, but the main sights cluster in Zones 1 and 2, which are surprisingly compact. Most central areas sit within a 20-minute tube ride of each other.

Getting around is easy once you tap in with a contactless card or phone.

  • Public transport
The tube and buses reach every tourist area; contactless taps cap your daily and weekly spend automatically.
  • Walkability
Central areas like Covent Garden and Westminster are walkable; crossing between zones needs the tube.
  • Taxis / ride-hail
Black cabs and Uber are everywhere; driving is not worth it with the congestion charge and ULEZ.

TravJoy Tip

For a first visit, base yourself in Covent Garden for walkable access to theatres and sights. If value matters more, King's Cross gives you six tube lines and faster day trips.
