The Vibe:Meerabai's Krishna, in carved sandstone.

Built in Amer village in the early seventeenth century by Queen Kanakwati in memory of her son, this temple is one of the few places where Meerabai is worshipped alongside Krishna. It predates Jaipur itself.
Carved elephants flank a steep flight of steps into a dim, incense-heavy hall. Bells sound intermittently against near-total quiet from the village outside.

  • Built in the early seventeenth century in Amer, predating the founding of Jaipur
  • Known locally as Meera Mandir for its association with the poet-saint Meerabai
  • Holds one of the highest visitor ratings of any Jaipur POI at 4.8
  • Repeatedly described by visitors as an under-visited heritage site in Amer
