Phuket : Museums
Phuket's museums trace the island's layered history, from tin mining wealth and Chinese migration to Peranakan culture and Sino-Portuguese architecture. Most are concentrated in or near Old Phuket Town and can be visited in a single afternoon.
- Trick Eye Museum: An interactive art museum with 3D optical illusion paintings designed for visitor photographs.
- Baan Teelanka (Upside Down House): A fully furnished house built in reverse, offering a playful and photo-friendly experience.
- Phuket Thai Hua Museum: Housed in a restored 1934 Sino-Portuguese school building on Krabi Road, covering the history of Chinese immigration and the tin-mining era across 13 exhibition rooms.
- Peranakan Phuket Museum: A modern museum on Thepkasattri Road dedicated to Baba-Nyonya heritage, featuring traditional costumes, a photo studio and a restaurant serving Peranakan dishes.
- Chinpracha House: A preserved Sino-Portuguese mansion on Krabi Road displaying early 20th-century furniture and personal items of the Chinpracha family.
- Thalang National Museum: Located in northern Phuket, documenting the island's role in the 1785 battle against Burmese invaders and broader regional history.
- Phuket Mining Museum: Set on a former mining site, recreating the tin-mining era with wax figures, model mines and geological displays.
