CONNECTING TOPhuket
🏝️ Phuket is Thailand's biggest island — almost the same size as Singapore.
🗻 The word "Phuket" comes from the Malay word bukit, which means "hill."
🐒 Wild monkeys live all over the island. You might spot them near temples and hilltops.
⛏️ Before tourists arrived, Phuket was famous for tin mining deep underground.
🏖️ The island has more than 30 beaches — some golden, some bright white.
🗿 The Big Buddha statue is 45 metres tall. That's higher than a 10-storey building.

🛶 Long ago, Phuket was a quiet island of fishing villages and thick rainforest.
-
⛵ Over time, ships from India, China and Europe stopped here to trade tin and spices.
-
🏙️ Today, it's a bright beach island with waterparks, night markets and colourful tuk-tuks everywhere.
