- The market is located at Boat Avenue in Cherngtalay (near Laguna Phuket). If you’re coming from Patong or Kamala, a taxi or Grab ride (about 20–30 minutes) is easiest. There’s one main road through Boat Avenue – on Fridays it’s pedestrianized for the market.
- If driving, you can enter Boat Avenue from Lagoon Road. On Fridays, parts of the street are blocked; follow the signs or guards’ directions to parking areas around the perimeter (parking by Villa Market or Porto de Phuket nearby are good bets).
- Once you’re there, simply stroll in – no gates or tickets. The market stretches along the lakeside street. It’s compact and open-air. New visitors: be sure to walk all the way to the end around the lake; some of the best food stalls and seating areas are a bit hidden toward the back.

Insider Tips
Best Time: Get there around 5:00–5:30 PM. You’ll catch sunset light over the little lake and beat the biggest rush. By 7 PM it gets crowded, so early birds enjoy shorter lines at food stalls.
Hack: If you’re driving and find Boat Avenue packed, park at Porto de Phuket (the shopping complex just across the street). It has ample parking, and you can just walk over in 5 minutes.
Hidden Gem: Check the back corner near the live music – local organic farmers sometimes set up a tiny produce stand with organic veggies, homemade jam, or goat cheese. It’s small, but if you find it, you can snag unique local products many miss.
Bonus Tip: Bring cash in small denominations (20s and 100s Thai Baht). Most vendors prefer cash and it speeds things up if you can give exact change. There are ATMs close by if needed.

Photography Tips
Low light: The market really shines after dusk, so use night mode or a fast lens rather than harsh flash – the warm glow of string lights is part of the charm.
Angles: For a cool shot, head to the far end by the lake and shoot back towards the market – you’ll capture the reflections of the lights on the water and the whole market vibe.
Candid moments: Vendors prepping food or a musician performing make great subjects. They’re used to cameras, but a smile and nod before you snap a portrait goes a long way.
Crowd navigation: It can be busy, so if using a larger camera, keep it close to avoid bumping people. A smartphone actually does a fantastic job for night market scenes and is less intrusive.
