HOW TO CHOOSE A HOTEL IN Paris

HOW IMPORTANT IS
THE LOCATION?

Paris is small for a capital, about 10km across. Most landmarks cluster within the first nine arrondissements, walkable in 20 to 40 minutes or a few metro stops.

Pick a central base and you can do most of the city on foot.

  • Public transport
Sixteen metro lines plus the RER and buses reach every corner. A single ride is €2.55. Paper tickets are being retired through 2026, so use a Navigo Easy card or your phone.
  • Walkability
The central arrondissements link on foot along the Seine. The river is your simplest compass.
  • Taxis / ride-hail
Uber, Bolt and G7 all work. Expect €10 to €20 for a cross-centre hop, more in traffic.

First visit? Base yourself in the Marais or near the Eiffel Tower in the 7th. Both put you walking distance from the Seine and a short metro ride from everything else.
