London: Best Nightclubs in London

A three-room Farringdon club housed in a converted Victorian cold store opposite Smithfield Market. Founded in 1999, it was voted World Number 1 Club in DJ Magazine's poll in 2007 and 2008. Room One features a bodysonic dancefloor linked to 400 bass transducers. Fridays focus on drum and bass, Saturdays on house and techno, with Sunday Wetyourself parties.

A four-room Elephant and Castle club opened in 1991 inside a former bus depot. The Box dancefloor is fitted with a 64-speaker Dolby Atmos system. Weekend programming covers house, techno, bass, grime, melodic and afrobeats across The Box, 103, The Baby Box and The Loft. It was named World's Best Club in DJ Magazine in 2010.

A Shoreditch club on Cowper Street, set across two floors with a tuned sound system. Opened in 2010 and relaunched in 2012, it built its reputation on a residency series that gave DJs three-month Saturday slots. Programming ranges from house and techno to drum and bass and hip hop. The upstairs space operates as sister venue The Shoreditch Butchery.

A DIY warehouse club inside the Orion Business Centre in South Bermondsey, opened in 2018 and named Time Out's Best Club in London for 2025. The stripped-back former mechanics' yard prioritises sound and local promoters. Programming spans experimental electronic genres with regular ATATA, Ditch Party and Resolution nights, alongside guest DJs including Jamie xx and Demdike Stare.

A Grade II-listed Camden venue originally opened in 1900 as the Camden Theatre, later the Music Machine and Camden Palace. A GBP 70-million refurbishment followed a 2020 fire, reopening in 2022. The building now combines a main performance space with members' club House of Koko. Past performers include Madonna, Prince, Coldplay and Amy Winehouse. Koko Electronic runs club nights on Fridays and Saturdays.

A Shoreditch venue opened in 2009 inside a renovated Victorian warehouse under railway arches on Holywell Lane. Above the main hall sit converted Underground carriages used as artist studios. The 700-capacity space hosts both live gigs and club nights, with programming focused on emerging electronic talent and world-class DJs. It remains one of the few independent venues in East London.

A 1,700-capacity Brixton venue in a 1913 Edwardian building on Town Hall Parade, formerly the Palladium Picture House, The Ace and The Fridge nightclub. The theatrical main room retains a mezzanine gallery and has hosted artists including Fred Again. Programming covers live gigs, reggaeton, drum and bass, house and themed club nights including GUAPO and Metalheadz.

A gay superclub beneath Charing Cross station on Villiers Street, opened in 1979. It pioneered large-scale gay clubbing in London and hosted early acid house residencies including Paul Oakenfold's Spectrum. Home to long-running G-A-Y nights since the Astoria closure. Regular events include Monday Popcorn, Thursday Porn Idol, Friday Camp Attack and Saturday G-A-Y.
