The Vibe:A building shaped like a ship, about Goan houses.

Conceived by architect Gerard da Cunha, this small museum explains how Goan domestic architecture absorbed Portuguese influence. The triangular building itself is the first exhibit.
The structure narrows to a prow above a road junction. Inside, three levels of drawings, tiles and salvaged fittings sit in tight, well-lit rooms.

  • Designed by the Goan architect Gerard da Cunha, who also curates the collection
  • Housed in a distinctive triangular, ship-like building at Torda
  • Focused specifically on Indo-Portuguese domestic architecture
  • Frequently recommended as preparation before walking Fontainhas or Chandor

Fit For

  • 🌍 Culture travellers: "Explains the houses you will see everywhere else in Goa."
  • 💕 Couples: "Short, unusual and easy to fit around other plans."
  • 🧳 Solo: "Small enough to work through properly in an hour."

Highlights

  • The building itself, a triangular structure narrowing to a prow
  • Salvaged doors, windows, tiles and balcão fittings from demolished Goan houses
  • Drawings and models tracing the evolution of the Indo-Portuguese house
  • Explanation of the balcão, the front porch central to Goan domestic life
  • A small shop selling architecture titles rarely stocked elsewhere — Hidden Gem
