Delhi: Hauz Khas
Operating Hours:Monday - Sunday: 10:30 - 19:00
The Vibe:A 14th-century madrasa above a lake, then cocktails.
Alauddin Khalji dug the reservoir in the 13th century to water Siri; Firoz Shah Tughlaq added the madrasa and his own tomb around it in 1352. A bar district grew up against the walls.
Parakeets over the water, then bass from the village lanes behind you. The stone holds heat long after the lake has gone dark.
- A royal reservoir excavated in the 13th century to supply the city of Siri
- The L-shaped madrasa and Firoz Shah Tughlaq's tomb date from 1352

- Rated 4.4 across more than 6,000 Google reviews

Highlights
- The L-shaped madrasa arcade running along the lake edge, with cells open to the water
- Firoz Shah Tughlaq's tomb, plain and severe compared with the Mughal tombs across the city
- The reservoir itself, still holding water and drawing herons and cormorants
- Deer Park adjoining the complex, with a spotted deer enclosure
- The small mosque on the western side, largely ignored by visitors — Hidden Gem
- Green Park on the Yellow Line is the nearest metro, about a fifteen-minute walk
- Hauz Khas station on the Yellow and Magenta lines is further from the fort despite the name
- The entrance is at the far end of Hauz Khas Village, through the lane of bars and boutiques
- Book the ticket online before arriving; gate sales are reported as unreliable
- Village parking is limited and chaotic at weekends — an auto is easier
