Bali : Waterfall Tours
Bali has over fifty waterfalls, and most look nothing alike. Some are a 20-minute drive from Ubud with paved steps to the base. Others require a two-hour drive north and a steep jungle hike. The five below span that full range — from easy half-day stops to full-day expeditions — each selected by Travjoy after comparing access, crowd levels, and swimming conditions across the island.
Which Waterfall Is Right for You?
- Want a quick, easy trip from Ubud with minimal hiking? → Tegenungan Waterfall — 30 minutes from Ubud, paved steps down.
- Prefer somewhere quieter with a photogenic trail? → Tibumana Waterfall — bamboo bridges, rice-field drive, fewer crowds.
- Willing to commit a full day for the most dramatic fall? → Sekumpul Waterfall — Bali’s tallest, deep in the northern highlands.
- Want the twin-cascade look without the Sekumpul crowds? → Banyumala Twin Waterfall — same region, a fraction of the visitors.
- Based in north Bali and want an easy stop? → Gitgit Waterfall — well-maintained path, deep pool for swimming.
If You Visit Only One — Editor’s Pick
Tegenungan Waterfall. It is the easiest to reach from southern Bali and Ubud, has a proper swimming pool at the base, and requires no special fitness or footwear. Arrive before 9am to beat the mid-morning crowds. The drive passes through Kemenuh village, known for its woodcarving workshops, which makes a natural stop on the way back. If you have a full day and want something more dramatic, swap this for Sekumpul Waterfall — the extra effort is repaid by scale and solitude.
